Welcome to the Environmental Law Society's Web page!
LS promotes discussion and awareness of environmental issues by hosting speakers and student discussions with attorneys practicing environmental law, coordinating community service projects, and promoting social activities. Our goal is to enhance legal education through the environmental law program at Washburn and to explore internships/externships and career opportunities in environmental law in both the public and private sectors. Membership is open to any student.
Environmental Law Certificate Program
Washburn offers a Natural Resources Law concentration with an endorsement showing a concentrated course of study in Environmental Law, Agricultural Law, Oil and Gas Law, or other area of concentrated natural resources law study. The requirements for an Environmental Law Certificate include 1) 90 hours of study, 2) a total of 12 hours within the block of Environmental Law, 3) complete, as part of the 12 hours, the foundation course Environmental Law, 4) an upper division writing requirement completed within the 12 hour block, and 5) achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in all courses taken from the available natural resoruces law courses.
